SMART START COLORADO ENLISTS INTERMOUNTAIN
CORPORATE AFFAIRS FOR STATEWIDE CAMPAIGN

– Communications Program to Raise Awareness of Early Childhood Development Issues –

DENVER (Oct. 30, 2006) – Smart Start Colorado, a statewide alliance of early childhood development organizations working to build a comprehensive support system for children birth to eight and their families, has added another partner to its growing network. The alliance has retained strategic communications firm InterMountain Corporate Affairs to design and execute an awareness and positioning campaign aimed at children’s advocates and opinion leaders alike.

“Colorado is rich in citizen support for children’s health, education and development issues, with scores of professionals and volunteers working tirelessly to ensure our youngest kids have the foundation to succeed in life,” noted Smart Start Colorado Director Teri Pinney. “Unfortunately, these individuals and programs do not always achieve optimal results because they’re not operating within an efficient and integrated system. We are thrilled to have InterMountain Corporate Affairs helping our widely dispersed partner organizations establish a more unified, consistent approach to communicating early childhood issues to various stakeholders.”

InterMountain Corporate Affairs, a 15-year-old public and government relations consulting firm with offices in Denver and on the Western Slope, will also assist Smart Start Colorado in educating and galvanizing support among state and local elected officials and business leaders. Elements of the campaign, according to Drew Kramer, the firm’s Director of Strategic Communications, will include research, messaging discipline, materials development, media training and media relations, opinion leader outreach and long-term strategic planning.

“This will be a multifaceted campaign and hopefully one that lays the communications
groundwork for the long-term successful expansion of the Smart Start Colorado galaxy,” said Kramer. “We’re honored to have the opportunity to work with these devoted champions of early childhood development.”
