Colorado Senate Unanimously Approves Governor Owens' Appointment
of Thomas R. Schilling to Durango College's Board
DENVER, CO (Feb. 18, 2005): InterMountain Corporate Affairs, one of Colorado’s leading government and public affairs/public relations firms, announced that Chief Executive Officer Thomas R. Schilling has been unanimously confirmed by the Colorado Senate to join the Board of Trustees of Fort Lewis College.
Appointed to the post last June by Governor Bill Owens, Schilling was confirmed on Feb. 15, 2005, by a roll call-vote. The public college is located in Durango, Colo., and was founded in 1911. Student enrollment is approximately 4,000.
An InterMountain co-founder, Schilling has more than 20 years experience in public affairs and community and media relations, with extensive involvement in major transportation projects throughout the Intermountain West. Recent local projects for which he has managed public, media and community relations include the I-70 East Corridor Environmental Impact Statement (EIS); C-470 Corridor Environmental Assessment (EA); I-70 Mountain Corridor Programmatic EIS and Major Investment Study; S I-25 Corridor/US 85 expansion EIS; Berthoud Pass; and the Northwest Parkway.
Schilling graduated in 1975 from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. Before founding InterMountain in 1991, he worked as a journalist for the Chicago Tribune and the Rocky Mountain News , as well as serving as director of communications for the Colorado Office of Economic Development under former Governor Roy Romer.
