DENVER, CO (Oct. 20, 2004) InterMountain Corporate Affairs has become a partner in the WORLDCOM Public Relations Group, the world's largest consortium of independently owned public relations counseling firms. The affiliation allows Denver-based InterMountain to offer clients local representation in markets as far-flung as Seattle, São Paulo , Singapore and Sydney.

WORLDCOM – no association with the telecommunications company – is comprised of some 80 partner firms with 100 offices in 33 countries on five continents. InterMountain was named the exclusive partner for Colorado after an extensive screening process, and the firm was admitted at the annual meeting of the group’s Americas Region, held in Pittsburgh Oct. 14-16. New partners in Vancouver, British Columbia; Nashville, Tenn.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico were also admitted in Pittsburgh.

  • In addition to expanding its geographic reach, InterMountain will broaden its portfolio of service offerings and industry knowledge through the alliance . “Joining WORLDCOM gives us national and international depth,” said Thomas R. Schilling, InterMountain’s chief executive officer. “Our new partners offer impressive expertise in marketing, public affairs and investor relations, as well as experience in a broad array of specialties such as consumer products, technology, health care, financial services and automotive.”

Schilling said that the character of the group is highly entrepreneurial – most members are founders and principals of their own firms – and that partner firms have a track record of collaborating seamlessly on client projects. He said the mantra repeated among members at the Pittsburgh meeting is that the best way to benefit from WORLDCOM is to take an active role.

”We immediately joined a practice group of firms specializing in public affairs, energy and environmental issues so we could share intellectual capital, trade best practices and discuss industry trends with our brightest peers from around the globe,” Schilling said. “We look forward to tackling a number of leadership roles within WORLDCOM and leveraging this valuable resource to the benefit of our clients and employees.”
