INTERMOUNTAIN PEOPLE Mary T. Brown, President As InterMountain’s president and chief lobbyist, Mary Brown represents clients and their issues before the Colorado Legislature and leads the company’s local government advocacy group. A horse trader in the most literal sense of the phrase, Mary has a profound understanding of state, county and municipal regulations from having been a rancher and small business owner as well as a member of the Steamboat Springs City Council for eight years – including four as council president. In addition, she served from 1997-1999 as manager of intergovernmental relations for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This experience allows Mary to effectively advise clients on the intricacies of rezoning laws and other regulatory structures. She is currently working with a group of retail owners in Snowmass to help influence the scope of a massive retail/residential project planned for the Colorado mountain town’s base village. She is advising another major corporate client on how to validate and accelerate the remediation and rezoning of a 78-acre industrial parcel it owns in Littleton – a highly sensitive process involving outreach to local, state and federal regulators as well as employees and community groups. Mary is also consulting to a large organization that is proposing to build a campus-style community center with cultural, educational and recreational facilities in Weld County. In addition to her other experience, Mary was elected to the Executive Board of the Colorado Municipal League Board and during her six-year tenure served as its secretary, vice president, and president. She was also a gubernatorial appointee for two terms to the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission, where she served as the Commission’s chairperson for two years. |
